Kalu ganga is one of the main landmarks for eco tourism and its clam water offering good opportunity to all the people who have never canoeing before but are looking to experience wilderness and adventure. Sri Lanka (SLMT) offer exclusive canoeing tour in Kalu River.
The river spills out of the Sinharaja forest reserve, tumbling its way down a 20km gorge. The tour will definitely allow you to observe village life of Sri Lanka and the beautiful landscape which changers from tea plantations, rubber estates, jungles, paddy fields and finally the Gangatilaka Vihara Kaluthara.
During most of the ride the only noises you will hear are the birds' calls and the sound of your paddle dipping into the calm water. For a bit more adventure, it is possible to continue on down the river where you will negotiate some basic rapids (full training will be given). The journey finishes at the west coast town of Kalutara which is famous for its impressive 'Gangatilaka Vihara' (Buddhist shrine), fine basket ware and the best mangroves teens in Sri Lanka. The kalu ganga river bank is an allow to visitors river bank camping if you requested.
